We USUALLY hire a PT 6 weeks out from a Wedding or when we realise Summer is around the corner, but there is so much more a PT can offer!
People hire personal trainers for various reasons. For some it’s the simple fact that they desire to look and feel better, for others it’s a more specific goal or event such as running a marathon, or a Wedding. One thing is certain, whatever the reason for getting healthier, fitter and stronger, hiring a trainer for most people can be the difference between success and failure.
Let’s look at the obvious benefits of a Personal Trainer. The knowledge your PT will have is the years of study and even more years of practise & trial & error of every new diet that comes out.
Not only is the health & fitness industry a minefield of misinformation, it also doesn’t particularly set you up for long term success. Most people come to a PT having tried years of the quick fix diet shakes and low calorie diet plans they heard a friend doing, only to be left high and dry when the going inevitably gets tough and this little thing called ‘your life’ gets in the way.
The First benefit to hiring a PT is Identifying the real goal. So many people come to PT in the hope of looking like the jacked up guy on the cover of Men’s Health, or the female figure model that posts her “inspirational” workouts on Instagram. Most don’t realise the sacrifices these people have to make in order to not only achieve that physique, but to stay at that level (that’s if the photos aren’t photoshopped in the first place). A good trainer will help you understand that you lead a completely different life to these people and also have other priorities, and lifestyles and this is what will drive you to stay on track even if you see no immediate improvement or plateau.
Secondly, a PT is there to provide you Education on what exactly will work for you and your lifestyle. E.g. if you are a busy mum responsible for the health and safety of your children, the last thing we want to do is put you on an excessively low calorie diet and get you doing hours of cardio, you’ll fast end up tired & cranky. A good PT will also account for the big differences in each of us foremost being our body type. This will start the ball rolling on our metabolism, hormone responses, and generally how we respond to different macronutrients.
Thirdly and most importantly….Accountability. It’s all very well having all the facts and information but it means nothing if it’s not applied. Accountability is where even the best athletes can come unstuck without a coach. I wouldn’t be a legit PT if I didn’t throw in an inspirational quote, so here is one of my favourites “The great aim of education is not knowledge but action.” –Herbert Spencer.
A weekly personal training session provides you with the ability to have your actions reflected upon & a good trainer will know when to have empathy or crack the whip if things are drifting astray. The key to any success is consistency and even 1 Session a fortnight is worth every cent and is purely an investment into your health the same way you pay into your super account. So go ahead a book a consult today, you will never look back!
