With over 400k new cases of Coronavirus being registered per day and over 3.5k deaths per day, India is currently one of the countries hardest hit by the current COVID-19 pandemic. Plus Fitness Head Office here in Australia decided to pull together much-needed funds in order to support it's fellow Franchisees and staff over in India. By reaching out to Australian & New Zealand Franchisees and staff members they were able to send vital funding directly to where it is needed most.
A 'Go Fund Me' page was set up by Plus Fitness Head Office and then promoted through social media as well as directly to Franchisees here in Australia and New Zealand. The response was immediate, with a flow of donations coming in from Plus Fitness Franchisees and staff. A notable donation from both Nigel Miller and John Fuller (founders of Plus Fitness) as well as Siraj Lalani (Master Franchisor, India) really helped to kick off the fundraising efforts.
At the heart of this initiative is the staff of Plus Fitness India, with most businesses not permitted to trade causing unemployment to be at an all-time high, impacting on people’s ability to provide the basics of food, shelter, and medicine for their families.
Many of the Plus Fitness India staff have tested positive for Coronavirus over the past couple of months, with two staff having lost their lives. In addition, much more staff have family members currently in a critical condition, with a number already having lost loved ones.
The Plus Fitness Head Office fundraising initiative raised over $10,000 for staff over in India! All of the funds have been equally distributed to the staff and Franchisees in India to enable them to buy essentials such as food and medicine for their families and themselves.
All donations, no matter how big or small, have made a significant difference in this extreme time of need.
A big thank you goes out to all of those that made a contribution to the Franchisees and Staff of Plus Fitness India.
