Plus Fitness today announced the opening of its 200th Australian club in Mambourin, Victoria, celebrating a landmark achievement for the brand as it continues its growth trajectory fuelled by its franchisee partnerships delivering exceptional customer experiences for its 200,000 members.
The Mambourin club underscores Plus Fitness’ momentum under Australian-owned, ASX-listed Viva Leisure following its acquisition in 2020, with six more clubs in the pipeline to open soon - including Footscray and Clyde in VIC as well as Bowral, Oran Park, Nowra and Belrose in NSW - as well as 50 more territories sold.
The expansion reflects the brand’s commitment to making fitness accessible, affordable and results-driven for every body. From regional towns to bustling cities, Plus Fitness spans ACT, NSW, QLD, SA, WA and VIC supported by a team of passionate franchisees and staff.
“Reaching our 200th club in Australia is a testament to the commitment of our people and franchisees, investment in smart technology and staying aligned to our strategic vision,” said Gordon Martin, Director of Plus Fitness. “We are member obsessed and have implemented platforms and products to remove friction for members and help franchisees run stronger profitable businesses enabling them to focus on delivering amazing in-club experiences.”
A growing global footprint
Alongside its Australian milestone, Plus Fitness continues to expand internationally across New Zealand and India, with five more regions secured and opening soon, including the United Kingdom, Hong Kong, the Philippines, Malaysia and Singapore. Viva Leisure has grown Plus Fitness’ club footprint by 20% in recent years.
Tech innovations fuelling growth
Plus Fitness’ expansion has been propelled by an integrated digital ecosystem and new products including its Digital HUB, a custom-built platform connecting access control, CRM and billing to give franchisees real-time membership insights, its Member ID App for keyless club access and its Member Portal that lets members manage accounts, book classes and invite guests, improving convenience while lowering franchisee costs. The brand also provides franchisees with KeepMe, lead and member journey automations, lifting acquisition and retention performance, as well as Viva Pay a secure, scalable payments solution.
“These solutions make joining, training and staying on track easier than ever,” Martin added. “By combining 24/7 access with smarter tools and welcoming clubs, we’re helping more Australians build sustainable fitness habits.”
Elevated, community-first club experience
Plus Fitness’ new-club design, featuring refreshed layouts, upgraded equipment, modern bathrooms, quality flooring and enhanced lighting, continues to uplift the member experience. With affordable, flexible memberships, group classes and one-to-one personal training, the brand caters to all fitness levels in a friendly, inclusive environment that champions both physical and mental wellbeing.
Strategic path to 300 clubs
Looking ahead, Plus Fitness aims to reach 300 clubs and 300,000 members over the next five years, with a strong focus on growth across Queensland and Victoria. Planned technology releases - including in-house apps for casual passes and expanded membership types, plus the next iteration of the Digital HUB - will continue to drive scalable, sustainable performance for franchisees while elevating the member journey.
“It’s an exciting time for Plus Fitness and our franchisees. While we recognise technology enhances the member and franchisee experience, human connection has been instrumental in our continued growth and remains a core part of who we are,” said Martin. “When you pair great tools with great teams, you create consistently brilliant experiences. That’s how we’ll take Plus Fitness from 200 to 300 clubs - by staying accessible, innovative and relentlessly member-focused.”
